'£20m wouldn't buy his left leg' - Exclusive: Pundit drools over Leeds player
Noel Whelan has hailed Ben White as a future Champions League and international star after his latest Leeds United masterclass.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-United forward is in no doubt that the on-loan Brighton defender, 22, is destined for big things following an outstanding half-season in the Championship.
Whelan was left raving once again over White after another smooth performance contributed to the latest Leeds clean sheet in their 1-0 Championship win at Reading last night.
The centre-back was paired by fit-again skipper Liam Cooper at the back as United sealed a fourth consecutive league win to climb to the top of the division.
“Ben White is an outstanding defender,” Whelan told Football Insider. “I realised within a few games that Pontus Jansson wouldn’t be missed, and it’s long been clear he’s much better than Pontus.
“You’re looking at not just a top Premier League player of the future but someone good enough to play for England and in the Champions League. He’s that good.

“Brighton are going to have to sort out what to do with him as they have some top centre-backs. Will they cash in next summer?
“He wouldn’t be cheap. I’ve seen him linked with Liverpool and Man United, and I’m not surprised. He’s going to be way more than £20million now. £20m wouldn’t buy his left leg.”
White, 22, had never previously played in the Championship or in the Premier League until August.
His contribution for parent club Brighton has been limited to just two matches in all competitions, and he spent each of the previous two seasons on loan in League One and League Two at Peterborough United and Newport County respectively.
