Pundit: Recruitment chiefs battling to lure Soucek from West Ham as he's made No1 target for top clubs
Alan Hutton has suggested several clubs will launch scouting missions to watch West Ham star Tomas Soucek at the European Championships.
The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 26-year-old would be top of numerous managers’ shopping lists this summer.
Soucek started and played the full 90 minutes in the Czech Republic’s 2-0 win over Scotland on Monday.
Hutton admitted the midfielder, operating in a deeper role than at West Ham, was something of an unsung hero for his country.
However, he insisted scouts would be able to see his worth.
“He caught the eye with his performances at West Ham last season,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“Going into this tournament, I think everybody would have eyes on him after playing so well. It was a little bit different from how he plays at West Ham. He was in that defensive role to do a job, to mark the likes of John (McGinn) and stop him creating things.
“He went about it quietly, you didn’t see him too much. For actual football people, watching the game, you knew exactly what he was doing. Ultimately, the job he was put there to do was to stop the likes of John McGinn.
“Of course people will be watching him. This is such a big tournament team beamed round the whole world, all eyes will be on it.
“Directors of football, managers, everybody will be watching every single team to see if they can get a gem. Thomas Soucek would obviously be top of that list.”
Soucek initially joined West Ham on loan in January 2020 before turning the move permanent that summer.
As revealed by Football Insider in March, the Irons are plotting a new contract for the Czech star.
