Pundit reveals what is 'brilliant' about Roberts after Leeds display
Tyler Roberts must improve his end product to become a more permanent fixture in the Leeds United side under Marcelo Bielsa, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the “quality” 22-year-old can be a “handful for any side”.
Roberts followed up an impressive cameo in the Yorkshire side’s 0-0 away draw against Brighton on Saturday (27 November) by leading the line from the start as Leeds United registered a last-gasp 1-0 home win over Crystal Palace last night (30 November).
Speaking after yesterday’s game and quoted by Leeds Live, Bielsa insisted the Welshman played a “very important” role in the victory.
He said Roberts “didn’t stop fighting” throughout his 89-minute display, and claimed the youngster kept Leeds alive in the match in what was just his second Premier League start of the season.
When asked about the winger’s impact, Whelan told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “On his day, Tyler can be a handful for any side.

“He’s brilliant with the ball at his feet, he has that turn of pace that can go past people. But it’s just that end product that can be a bit lacking.
“That’s the main issue with him at the moment. We just need that calmness and composure in front of goal or that pass to create an assist.
“We know that he has the quality, but he’s got to turn these chances into goals and assists.
“That is the only way he can inject his personality into this Leeds United side and make him a really important fixture in the team to Marcelo Bielsa.“
Roberts has netted just once in 41 Premier League appearances for Leeds United.
The winger has 19 Wales caps after his debut in September 2018.
