Pundit shares 'big' Aston Villa prediction after 'incredible' development

Aston Villa will rocket up the league during the second half of the season after Unai Emery’s “incredible” first game in charge.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Spaniard’s impact at his new club.

Emery won his first game in charge of Villa as his new side beat Manchester United 3-1 on Sunday (6 November).

The former Villarreal manager was unable to take charge against Newcastle on 29 October due to an issue with his work permit.

McManus insists Villa can fly up the table now Emery is in charge.

“He played a blinder missing that Newcastle game, now they are off to a flyer,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“It has meant he started off with a home game against a Man United side who have struggled this season. It’s an incredible result for Villa because I think they hadn’t beaten them at home for something like 30 years.

“Emery will be delighted, he couldn’t have hoped for a better start but the key now is to keep this going.

“He has shown how good this Villa side can be so that is the bare minimum they have to show every single week from now on.

“There can’t be any more performances like the one they produced against Newcastle. I have no doubt they will finish the season a lot better than they started it.

“I said a few weeks ago that the appointment of Emery was sensational business and the early signs would suggest that I’m right.

“I think they can have a big second half of the season now.”
