Pundit shares ‘big’ Steven Gerrard ‘fear’ amid Aston Villa latest
Paddy Kenny feared for Steven Gerrard’s job at Aston Villa after a tough start to the season.
The former Leeds United stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the form Villa carried into the current Premier League season.
After losing to Bournemouth last weekend (6 August), Aston Villa had only won two of their previous 12 games.

However, Villa returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Everton on Saturday (13 August).
According to the Scottish Sun (8 August), after the first game of the season, Gerrard had the same win rate at Villa as Gary Neville did at Valencia during his ill-fated spell at the club.
Kenny insisted the pressure was already on for Gerrard as he fights to keep his job.
“If they didn’t win against Everton then the pressure would start building,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I heard through the week regarding Gerrard’s record and comparing it with Gary Neville. It looks like they now have the same record after the same amount of games.
“I did fancy Villa to beat Everton but the pressure is starting to build anyway. It’s looked like a big, must-win game and we are, what, two weeks into the season?
“It hasn’t quite gone to plan for Gerrard and he didn’t help himself out with those comments last weekend.
“So let’s see what happens but I would have feared for him if Villa do lose to Everton, especially after the summers both clubs have had.”

Villa finished 14th in the 2021-22 Premier League.
They failed to win any of their last five games of the season.
In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Aston Villa may have just agreed a new deal with a lifelong fan.
