Pundit calls for Leeds players to revolt after what he's heard from Bielsa

Leeds United players should revolt against some of Marcelo Bielsa’s methods and make smarter on-pitch decisions to avoid a relegation battle.

That is according to Gabriel Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Leeds suffered another spirit-crushing defeat to West Ham.

A late Michail Antonio goal secured the Irons three points and meant the Whites remain in the relegation places.

As quoted by Leeds Live after the game, Bielsa suggested his side’s poor form and position in the table will have a negative effect in the dressing room.

The Yorkshire giants are winless in their opening six Premier League games – their longest run without picking up three points under Bielsa.

“I think they are going to be a relegation battle, to be honest,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“The standard in the Premier League is so high, I think they will be in a relegation battle, definitely.

“They’ve got to stick together as a group.

“If the manager wants to play in a certain way they’ve got no choice but sometimes the players on the pitch have to think to themselves ‘It’s the last minute, I know we want to win games but should we really be leaving Antonio man-for-man at the back?’

“I don’t think so and they got punished for that. That’s something that’s got to come from the players.”

Leeds host newly-promoted Watford at the weekend before the October international break.

Watford are 12th in the table and have won two of their opening six league games.

In other news, Marcelo Bielsa has been told to sign six Leeds United players in January after another injury is confirmed.
