James 'not good enough' for Man United but he is 'perfect' for Leeds - pundit

Leeds United are the “perfect” club for Dan James to consistently show his talents, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after James made his fourth consecutive start for the Whites.

The winger had arguably his best game for Leeds in the 1-0 win over Watford and had a strong appeal for a penalty turned down.

As quoted by Leeds Live after the game, Marcelo Bielsa claimed he is getting better with every game and will become make a “special contribution to the team”.

“Man United was too big for him,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Whenever he did play, he wasn’t good enough, to be honest. For where Manchester United wanted to be, he wasn’t good enough.

“A club like Leeds, with what they’re trying to achieve, he’s going to get more chance of playing more often. He’ll maybe get more chance of the manager giving him a long run of games to prove himself.

“At Manchester United, you’re not going to get that. If you’re not doing it, you’re out because they’re trying to win the Premier League.

“I think Leeds are the perfect fit for him. Hopefully, he can find some consistency and help Leeds United.”

James scored nine goals and contributed nine assists in 74 games across all competitions for Man United.

He moved to Elland Road for a reported £25million fee over the summer after Man United signed Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus.

In other news, a Leeds United star is likely to be ruled out for “six weeks” after an update.
