Pundit ‘shocked’ by Cameron Carter-Vickers after confirmed Celtic news

Alan Hutton has hailed Celtic “warrior” Cameron Carter-Vickers as the type of player every team needs within their ranks.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers defender was “shocked” to hear Carter-Vickers has been ruled out until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old put in a man of the match performance as the Hoops secured their place in the Scottish Cup final with a 1-0 win over Rangers on Sunday (30 April).

But after the game (30 April) Ange Postecoglou confirmed that the centre-back will undergo surgery on a lingering injury and will be out until the end of the season.

Postecoglou said he tried to convince the defender to go under the knife earlier, but Carter-Vickers was adamant that he would play in the semi-final at the weekend.

Hutton praised Carter-Vickers’ attitude and dedication to the team.

I think you need those sorts of characters in your team, guys that would run through brick walls for you,” he told Football Insider.

It is difficult to come across nowadays and Carter-Vickers definitely fits that mould. He has been outstanding since he has come to Celtic and he is a real warrior on the pitch.

You can see that, throwing himself into tackles, putting his body on the line.

I genuinely do not know what is wrong with him. It was a shock to me when Ange came out and said that they were going to wrap him in cotton wool and his season is over, especially when they have got a final coming up.

I am sure he would have wanted to play in that but there is obviously a problem they want to get fixed before the new season. But you definitely need players like him in your squad.
