Pundit shreds Arsenal title claim as ‘banana skins’ prediction made
Arsenal have a long way to go before they have a realistic chance of winning this season’s Premier League.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Arsenal dropped points at The Emirates for the first time this season after being held to a 0-0 draw by Newcastle United on Tuesday (3 January).
The result left the Gunners eight points clear at the top of the table and still with only one loss to their name this season.
Despite this, Wenham claims there is still a long way to go before the
“They have played 17 league games, the league is 38 games long,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“They have to go to Man City, St James’ Park, Tottenham and Anfield and win all of those games and I just don’t see that happening.
“They have two wins at Tottenham in 18 years. Then they have to go to West Ham and Leicester, good sides. They did well to win at Brighton to be fair.
“There are a lot of hard games coming. If you look at their fixtures, who have they beaten? A poor Liverpool side and even on that day Darwin Nunez scored against them.
“I’m just saying, they have a long, long way to go and there are plenty of banana skins.”

Second-placed Man City could close the gap to Arsenal if they beat Chelsea on Thursday (5 January).
The Gunners are next in action against Oxford on Monday (9 January).
