Pundit suggests new Liverpool signing after £160m+ January war chest reveal
Kevin Campbell has backed Liverpool to add “quality” in central midfield as they prepare to make a January signing.
The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, warned any new signings will be irrelevant if the current Reds squad can’t “up their game”.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (4 October) that Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group are willing to fund an A-list acquisition in January should Jurgen Klopp and the recruitment team source the right player.
The Merseysiders’ most recently published accounts revealed assets of £160.7million.
The Reds are one of a number of sides interested in Jude Bellingham, with Premier League rivals Man City, Chelsea and Man United as well as the leading teams in Europe all chasing his signature.
Liverpool have also been linked with Real Madrid superstar Federico Valverde.

Campbell told Football Insider: “Liverpool fans are going on about a central midfielder.
“They can spend the money wherever they like, but if the team aren’t playing well then it won’t matter.
“The players have to up their game. They’ve dropped maybe 2% a player, so they need to put that right.
“Central midfield is one area where they need quality. It’s the place where Liverpool fans are calling for reinforcements.”
Liverpool have struggled in the midfield area this season after injuries to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara, and Jordan Henderson.
Klopp’s side sit ninth in the Premier League after winning just two of their opening seven top-flight games.
