Pundit suggests Phillips wants to complete ‘unbelievable’ West Ham move after source’s reveal

Paddy Kenny insists Nat Phillips would be open to leaving Liverpool to sign for West Ham in January.

The former Leeds United stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider,
claims the lure of regular football will be too much for the defender to turn down.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider (29 November) the Irons are laying the groundwork for a move for Phillips after Angelo Ogbonna’s season-ending injury blow.

It is understood Liverpool would listen to offers around the £12million mark for Phillips, 24.

Kenny insists the defender will be open to the move after developing a taste for first-team football last season.

“He will have a much better chance of playing first-team football if he moves to West Ham,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I’m sure he’s keen and interested. I know it’s good training with the likes of Van Dijk every day. but playing week in week out is the best way of learning.

“West Ham are doing unbelievable stuff at the moment. It’s an attractive move.

“If Phillips has the chance to go, I don’t see why he wouldn’t take that chance.

“He’s still a young lad and West Ham could be the ideal place to take that next step.”

Phillips played 20 times for Liverpool last season as the club suffered through a defensive injury crisis.

However, he has made just three appearances this term.
