Pundit suggests solution to 'biggest problem' at Liverpool after Jude Bellingham reveal

Frank McAvennie has claimed signing Jude Bellingham would change the fortunes of Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said the Reds need to “stop leaking goals”.

On Saturday (29 October), sources told this site that the Merseysiders are worried they will be priced out signing Bellingham if he has a good World Cup.

The Reds have held extensive talks with the player’s camp and are confident they have laid the groundwork for a potential deal next year.

However there is growing concern that Borussia Dortmund’s valuation of the 19-year-old could soar beyond the £100million mark.

The England international’s current deal expires in 2025.

McAvennie suggested that signing Bellingham could be the answer to Liverpool’s problems.

“If Liverpool get Bellingham that would change their fortunes,” he told Football Insider.

They have got to sort the defence out. They have got to stop leaking goals, that is the biggest problem for them.

You need Liverpool to go and challenge Man City because Man United are not going to be doing it any time soon.

The Reds have conceded 17 goals so far in the league this season, more than half of those have come in the first half of a match.

The total puts them joint highest of the big six Premier League clubs for goals conceded so far.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have also kept just four clean sheets so far.

They are currently ninth in the league with just 16 points from 12 games.
