Pundit tells Man City to seal £100m+ Josko Gvardiol deal – ‘he’s the answer’
Man City could spend £100million on Josko Gvardiol to solve the club’s defensive crisis.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the defender’s future.
RB Leipzig defender Gvardiol, 21, starred for Croatia at the Qatar World Cup, playing every minute as his country finished third.
Man City’s defence has been criticised this season with the club struggling to chase down league-leaders Arsenal.
McManus claims Gvardiol could be the answer to City’s problems.
“Any player who plays that well in a World Cup is going to be linked with the biggest clubs in Europe,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“Obviously, Man City are one of those and he is at Leipzig at the moment. So I think they will be looking to get a big fee for him.
“The fee I have seen is £100million or £110million, something like that. He is a very, very good defender and he’s only 21.
“He’s coming off the back of a good World Cup but Leipzig clearly want to wait until the end of the season to think about selling. It will be a huge outlay but he looks like an outstanding player.
“I was really impressed when I watched him. He’s the answer to Man City’s problems. It’s the defence that needs fixing.
“CIty aren’t afraid to spend, they won’t be put off by that price tag.”

City are five points behind the Gunners though Mikel Arteta’s side have a game in hand.
The Blues are next in league action against Tottenham on 5 February.
