Pundit verdict on Celtic signing Jordan Larsson after report – ‘there’s a lot of agent talk’

Alan Hutton has suggested Jordan Larsson’s family history with Celtic could encourage him to sign for the club.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Rangers defender said that Larsson will have “a soft spot” for the Parkhead club.

On Sunday (3 July), the Daily Record reported that Swedish side AIK, who were frontrunners to sign the 25-year-old, would be unable to resign the striker.

The son of Celtic legend Henrik Larsson is currently a free agent after the mutual termination of his contract at Spartak Moscow.

Hutton suggested the affiliations between the Larsson family and Celtic could encourage the striker to sign.

“Obviously, the ties that his dad has got with the club will forever be in the history,” he told Football Insider.

So for his son, you see the pictures of him from when he was younger and growing up with his dad, he probably has a soft spot for Celtic.

It’s a nice story so I think that will be a factor in it. Is it going to be 100% true? Look there’s a lot of speculation, a lot of paper talk, a lot of agent talk so we’ll have to wait and see how it develops and what Celtic as a club are looking for and thinking of.

I’m sure they’ll keep their eye on the situation.”

Larsson spent the latter half of last season on loan with AIK.

He scored three goals in 11 appearances for the Swedish side during the two months.
