Pundit verdict on Tottenham axing Tanganga v Crystal Palace as training pictures emerge
Paul Robinson has backed Nuno Espirito Santo to keep Japhet Tanganga in the Tottenham starting XI despite the big-money arrival of Emerson Royal.
The former England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Tanganga has been “one of the best performers” for Spurs this term.
Tottenham shared images from Emerson’s training ground arrival on Twitter yesterday (September 8th), confirming the Brazillian’s availability for Saturday’s visit to Crystal Palace.
Spurs’ newest arrival joined on deadline day from Barcelona for a fee understood to be around £25.7million.
Tanganga has been ever-present for Spurs in the Premier League this term, starring in each of their three victories.
Robinson believes the 22-year-old Englishman deserves to keep his place in the Tottenham eleven in order to aid his development.

“Tanganga stays in against Palace, he’s been one of the best performers of the season for me,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“He doesn’t lose his place. If you’re playing that well, you don’t lose your place.
“They accepted a bid from Galatasaray in the summer, but he’s stayed, he played one of the best games I’ve seen from him against Arsenal in pre-season.
“He’s earnt his shirt, and there’s no reason to take his shirt off him.
“The signing of Emerson is a good one – he’s a good player. But you don’t want his arrival to be to the detriment of Tanganga’s development.
“Yes, it’s a squad game and there will be rotation. But you can’t take one of your best players out of the team.”
England under-21 international Tanganga has made 27 senior appearances for Spurs.
Meanwhile, Emerson made 76 appearances in the La Liga, scoring four goals and contributing 10 assists.
