Pundit ‘wowed’ as Thiago Alcantara footage emerges from Liverpool – ‘he’ll not say it openly’
Paul Robinson has claimed Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara will “feel like he has a point to prove” after missing out on the World Cup.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one suspects the 31-year-old will be “a big player” for Jurgen Klopp’s side between now and the end of the season.
Thiago was left out of the Spain’s squad for the World Cup.
As shown by club media (18 December), the centre-midfielder impressed for Liverpool in friendlies during the international break.
He started Liverpool’s last 16 tie against Man City on Thursday (22 December) and was impressive before being substituted in the second half.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Thiago’s pass and performances during the break, Robinson said: “Wow, what a pass that is.
“We all know that he has that in his locker. He is so gifted on the ball.
“He will not say it openly but I think he will feel like he has a point to prove. I’m sure it hurt not being included in that World Cup squad. It will have been a major blow.

“If he can stay fit, I have no doubt that he will be a big player for Liverpool between now and the end of the season.
“Liverpool’s midfield problems have been well documented. They are severely lacking in that area. If Thiago can stay fit for the remainder of the season it would be a real help.”
