QPR Exclusive: Jake Clarke-Salter in advanced talks to agree deal

Jake Clarke-Salter is in advanced talks over a new Queens Park Rangers contract, sources have told Football Insider.

The 27-year-old’s current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2026 and the club are keen on tying down one of their star defenders.

Clarke-Salter joined the club in 2022 as a free agent following his release from boyhood club and west London rivals Chelsea.

Football Insider revealed earlier in the summer that Wolves were interested in bringing the centre-back to the Premier League but were put off by QPR’s £10million asking price.

Clarke-Salter has played every Championship minute for QPR so far this season, picking up two yellow cards in the process.

It’s been a frustrating start to the season for the West Londoners with one win, four draws, and one defeat in their opening six Championship games as they sit in 14th.

The defender played a starring role in their 2-1 win over freshly relegated Luton Town, ending the game having completed 100 per cent of his tackles and making eight clearances.

Marti Cifuentes’ side next face an away trip up north to Blackburn, who are in fourth place after an electric start to the campaign.
