BBC broadcaster tells hilarious story about Rangers manager Graeme Murty

BBC radio broadcaster Andrew Peach has revealed a hilarious story about Rangers manager Graeme Murty being terrified of a Reading fan while co-hosting a breakfast show.
Murty spent three years co-hosting BBC Radio Berkshire’s breakfast show with Peach and would take calls from fans regularly as the Royals made their way into the Premier League.
The then-captain of the Madejski side would give an insight into the day-to-day happenings at the club and even ended up nominated for a prestigious Sony Award.
Peach told how Murty would “dread” one particular caller and how he was worried she would appear in person one day.
“Can you imagine the captain of a Premier League club being on the local station every week today?” Peach said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“Part of the show was people calling in and Graeme would have to explain why things had happened.
“I remember we’d quite an opinionated lady called Noreen from Tilehurst, who’d ring quite regularly.
“Graeme used to dread it if she rang. He used to worry she would turn up in person one day — and eventually she did.
“The good thing about him was that he could handle himself really comfortably in that situation.”
After hanging up his boots at Reading, Murty had spells on the Academy staff at Southampton and Norwich City before moving north in 2016 to join Rangers as Under-20’s head coach.
The 43-year replaced Mark Warburton as manger early last year on a short-term basis before being handed the reins in October after Pedro Caixinha was sacked.
Murty has taken the Gers to nine points off Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic and also have a Scottish Cup quarter-final against Falkirk next month.
The Gers boss is currently under contract until the end of the season but will be hoping he can do enough to convince the Ibrox board to hand him the job on a long-term basis.
