Andrea Radrizzani has given the green light to Mateusz Klich becoming the latest Leeds United star to get a big pay rise, Football Insider can reveal.

Football Insider revealed at the start of this month that United had begun discussions with the Poland international about a new deal to replace his current agreement ending June 2020.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that owner Radrizzani is willing to reward Klich with a major pay hike in the same way as he did recently with Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas.

The senior trio have all signed long-term contracts this month and Klich is set to follow suit imminently as United reward the key players in their promotion-hunting campaign.

Radrizzani is aware of the need of pinning down the Poland international after interest from Premier League clubs led by Burnley during the summer as well as teams across Europe.

He has been transformed from a fringe player who spent the second half of his first season at the club out on loan in the Dutch Eredivisie into a key man under Marcelo Bielsa.

Klich has started eight of Leeds’ Championship matches this season after a hugely productive 2018-19 in which he remarkably started all 48 league and play-off matches.

The central midfielder scored 10 goals as well as supplied nine assists last season, and won back his place in the Poland national side.

He earned his 21st cap during the most recent international break.

Klich is set to be named in the Leeds starting XI once again for today’s Championship clash away to Charlton Athletic despite the return to fitness of Adam Forshaw.

Bielsa’s side head to the Valley positioned top of the league table, ahead of second-placed Swansea City on goal difference.
