Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has denied that Charlie Taylor is the perpetrator of a strongly worded Instagram message suggesting he will quit the club in the summer.

Taylor’s verified account on the social media site dismissively replied to a Leeds fan on Monday afternoon who claimed Gaetano Berardi was a better left-back and that the club should sell the academy product for £7million in the summer.

The Leeds defender stated he was “out of contract in summer and good luck with that one”, accompanied by a thumbs-up emoticon.

Another supporter of the Yorkshire giants expressed his “shock” at Taylor’s apparently open desire to move to a new club at the end of the season in a message to Leeds senior figures Radrizzani, Garry Monk and Pep Clotet.

Co-owner Radrizzani, who bought a 50 per cent stake in the club last month, attempt to allay the fan’s fears by stating on his personal Twitter account, “you are smart to see it’s not Charlie account” and urged him to focus on Saturday’s Championship showdown against rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

The reply by the Leeds owners’ verified Twitter account failed to account for the fact that the Taylor Instagram account has the verified blue tick and is followed by many of his Leeds teammates.

The blazing row comes as Taylor returns to first-team training as he prepares to make his long-awaited comeback from injury.

Taylor has been sidelined with an achilles problem since limping out of Leeds’ home Championship win against Brentford on 17 December.

The 23-year-old, who had started all of the team’s league games this season up to that point, has subsequently missed 13 fixtures in all competitions.

Berardi, a right-back by trade, has deputised at left-back for Taylor over the last two months and has been commended by manager Garry Monk  for his performances.

In other Leeds news, the club are eying a stunning triple transfer swoop as three players headed into the training ground.
