Van der Vaart posts Twitter challenge to Tottenham midfielders after Alli failure
By Will Butcher
Rafael van der Vaart is still waiting for his Tottenham record of 32 goals and assists in his first 50 games from a midfielder to be broken.
Dele Alli was unable to break the Holland international’s mark, as the 20-year-old made his 50th league and cup appearance against Southampton on Wednesday night.
But the England international’s brace during the 4-1 win was not enough to equal van der Vaart’s record, with Alli having a hand in 26 goals during his first 50 games.
Posting on his personal Twitter account, van der Vaart asked “which Spurs midfielder” would offer the next threat to his sublime record.

Currently with Danish giants FC Midtjylland, van der Vaart accomplished the superb return after his £8million move from Real Madrid.
The 33-year-old scored goals against the likes of Inter Milan, Liverpool and Arsenal as he starred in the Spurs side that reached the quarter final of the Champions League.
Costing just £5million from League One outfit MK Dons, Alli has quickly become one of England’s hottest prospects after starring in the Premier League and for the Three Lions.
Alli’s performance against Southampton caught the attention of Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp, who believes his worth has rocketed and is now worth more than £50million.
During his two-year stint at White Hart Lane, van der Vaart played 77 times in both league and cup for Spurs as he found the back of the net 28 times.
