‘Raheem Sterling among three big-name stars Chelsea ready to sell’

Raheem Sterling is among three big-name stars Chelsea are ready to sell this summer.

The 30-year-old spent the latest campaign on loan at Arsenal after being frozen out by Enzo Maresca following his arrival last summer.

Arsenal decided against signing Sterling on a permanent basis after he failed to provide much of an impact during his time at the Emirates.

Sterling was left out of the Chelsea squad for the Club World Cup, with Maresca making it clear he doesn’t see the winger in his plans moving forward.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Chelsea want to sell Ben Chilwell and Joao Felix alongside Sterling this summer.

Chilwell spent the second half of the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Crystal Palace, where he started in just two of his 11 appearances.

Meanwhile, Felix registered three goals and one assist in 21 outings for AC Milan after joining them on loan in the January transfer window.

Sterling and Chilwell are both under contract at Stamford Bridge until June 2027, while Felix’s deal expires in 2031.

Chelsea plan to reduce wage bill as exits on the cards

Borson insisted Chelsea want to move Sterling, Chilwell and Felix on to reduce their wage bill, which stood at £338million in 2023-24.

He told Football Insider: “I think part of Chelsea’s total budget will be dependent on who they can get out the door.

“They have got some very big players they want to remove from the squad.

“Sterling, Chilwell and Joao Felix, people like this on very big wages.

“So, they will want to free up some of that space and some of that budget.”

Christopher Nkunku closes on Chelsea exit

In terms of outgoings at Stamford Bridge, Football Insider revealed on 1 July Christopher Nkunku is expected to be among the first Chelsea exits this summer.

Chelsea have agree deals to sign Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens for a combined fee of more than £100million, as Maresca continues to add attacking talent to his side.

Nkunku is pushing to leave Stamford Bridge as a result, and the France international won’t be the only player to depart this summer.
