Raheem Sterling ‘expected’ to quit Man City this summer as Arsenal bid touted – pundit

Kevin Campbell has insisted he “expects” Raheem Sterling to depart Man City this summer.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, called on his old side to launch a move for the 27-year-old when the transfer window opens.

According to the Daily Star (26 March), City will listen to offers of around £80million for Sterling this summer as he enters the final year of his contract.

The newspaper previously reported (29 January) that Arsenal are one of the sides targeting the England star.

Sterling, who has netted 14 goals in all competitions this term, has managed to start just 17 of Man City’s 28 Premier League fixtures during the 2021/22 campaign.

Campbell suggested the 27-year-old could feel he is ready to take on a “new project”.

“I’m expecting a parting of the ways this summer,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“A club like Man City will not let him run down that contract. With a year left, if he was thinking of renewing – it would be done already. You don’t leave it this long.

“I think they might be looking to cash in. Sterling himself may be thinking he is ready for a new project.

“I’d love Arsenal to make a bid, but there’s a lot of clubs who will be looking at him as their main target this summer. He’d enhance a lot of clubs.”

Man City

Sterling cost Man City a reported £49million when he joined from Liverpool in 2015.

The winger, who captained England for the first time on Tuesday (29 March), has scored 128 times in 327 games for City.
