Raheem Sterling given ‘step up’ Arsenal message after Chelsea ‘bounce’
Raheem Sterling has been told he now has to “step up” for Arsenal amid the Gunners’ growing injury crisis in attack, by Simon Jordan.
Sterling joined the Gunners on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season back in the summer transfer window, following a difficult period at Stamford Bridge.
It has been a equally tough period for the attacker since he made the move to the Emirates, with goals and game time both hard to come by.
Some Arsenal fans even called for Sterling to be sent back to Chelsea earlier in the season after an injury he suffered.
Now though it looks as if the 30-year-old is going to get a chance to show just what he can do for the Gunners, following the latest developments around Mikel Arteta‘s side.
Raheem Sterling set challenge following Arsenal’s Kai Havertz injury blow
Earlier this week, it emerged that Kai Havertz has suffered an injury at Arsenal that is set to keep him out for several weeks, which has left fans gutted.
It also means that Arteta is starting to runout of options to select to lead the line in attack for his side, both centrally and out wide.
The likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli are all still unavailable due to fitness issues that may keep him out of action for some time yet.
Sterling though is one of the few forwards who is available for Arsenal, and Jordan believes that presents an opportunity for him to make a point.
Speaking on talkSPORT about the individuals left for Arteta to pick from in attack, the former Crystal Palace chairman said: “Up you step Raheem Sterling. “Everyone tells you how wonderful you are.
“There might be a reason why Manchester City bounced you into Chelsea and Chelsea bounced you out to Arsenal, now’s your opportunity to prove everybody wrong and earn your money.”
Raheem Sterling has chance to turn his career around after Man City and Chelsea exits
Football Insider Verdict
After a poor spell at Chelsea and with things yet to get going for him at the Emirates, things have begun to stagnate for Sterling after so many years playing at the top of English football.
However he is now the senior attacking option for Arsenal given those injuries to their other attacking players at the club.

That ought to ensure he gets a run in the side, which means he has a chance to deliver a reminder of how good he could be at this level.
If he takes that by scoring some crucial goals for the Gunners, it may lead to the chance of another exciting move, or a return to Chelsea in the summer that opens more doors for him.
That could help to kickstart his career once again, and after seemingly sending a message of intent on social media it does seem as though Sterling is now keen to prove a point with Arsenal.
If he manages to do that then after so long on the periphery, he could start to attract more attention once again.
