Raheem Sterling in talks with potential new club as fresh contact made for shock deal

Raheem Sterling has plenty of options available for his next move after terminating his contract at Chelsea.

The winger spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Arsenal, and hadn’t made a single Premier League appearance for Chelsea this season prior to his time at the club being cut short last week.

Chelsea agreed to terminate Sterling’s contract to allow him to find a new club, after he had been part of the ‘bomb squad’ at Stamford Bridge ever since Enzo Maresca joined as manager in the summer of 2024.

The former England international has been linked with a whole host of clubs in recent days, including the likes of Fulham and West Ham, and he has a wide range of differing options open to him right now.

Raheem Sterling in talks over Euro move

Sterling was recently offered to Union Berlin, but the Bundesliga side opted against pursuing a deal.

However that is far from the full extent of European clubs that are chasing the 31-year-old, with Napoli having also been linked with a move for him in recent weeks.

A switch to Turkey could now be on the horizon, as Super Lig outfit Samsunspor are now in contact with Sterling over a shock deal, according to Turkish outlet Fanatik.

Their president Yuksel Yildirim has confirmed that discussions with the Englishman are ongoing, but no official offer has been made to bring him in at the moment.

Samsunspor have competed in the UEFA Conference League this season, and are due to play Albanian side KF Shkendija in the Round of 32 in the second half of February.

Saudi Pro League or MLS move also on the cards for Sterling

Football Insider recently revealed that Sterling could move to the Saudi Pro League or MLS in the coming weeks, rather than trying to secure another deal to stay in the Premier League.

The wideman is keen to assess all of his potential options before he makes a decision on where his future lies, but it is possible that he may look favourably on a move abroad at this stage of his career.

Sterling has never played outside the Premier League, having previously taken in lengthy spells with both Liverpool and Manchester City, and the idea of a completely new challenge may appeal to him.

With that in mind, Samsunspor will clearly have hope that they could potentially reach a deal, despite the heavy competition that they are set to face from other interested parties.
