‘Raheem Sterling is first of four Chelsea stars to leave after decision made’

Raheem Sterling looks set to be on the move again this summer following his latest omission from the Chelsea squad.

The 30-year-old joined the London giants in a £50million deal from Manchester City in 2022.

The 82-cap England international spent seven successful years at the Etihad Stadium, where he won 11 trophies, including four Premier League titles.

Sterling has registered 19 goals and 15 assists in 81 appearances for Chelsea, but he hasn’t featured for the club for more than a year.

Enzo Maresca decided the winger wasn’t part of his plans last summer and he eventually joined Arsenal on loan.

However, his time at the Emirates was largely forgettable after recording just one goal and five assists in 28 outings.

Arsenal decided against signing Sterling on a permanent basis and he has now returned to Chelsea.

Raheem Sterling set for Chelsea exit after new blow

Any chance of Sterling forcing his way back into the reckoning at Stamford Bridge appears to already be over.

The Telegraph reported on 10 June the attacker will not be part of Chelsea’s squad for the upcoming Club World Cup.

The newspaper said Djordie Petrovic, Joao Felix and Axel Disasi, who all spent time out on loan in the latest campaign, have joined Sterling in failing to make the cut.

However, Andrey Santos has been named in the squad after returning from his loan spell at Strasbourg, with new signings Liam Delap, Dario Essugo and Mamadou Sarr also included.

Chelsea are set to face Mexican side Club Leon in their first game of the Club World Cup in Atlanta on 16 June.

Chelsea fans fume after Djordie Petrovic update

Maresca has made his stance clear on the possibility of Sterling working his way back into the side next season.

Chelsea will look to try and sell the winger this summer, but a major stumbling block will be his hefty wages.

Sterling is believed to be on around £325,000 a week, with his deal set to run until 2027.

Petrovic, Felix and Disasi also look set for a Stamford Bridge exit in the coming weeks following their Club World Cup omissions.

However, Chelsea fans have fumed over the decision to leave Petrovic out following his form on loan at Strasbourg.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper kept 10 clean sheets in 31 appearances for the Ligue 1 side in the 2024-25 season.
