Ralf Rangnick may be on first flight out of Man United after 'disrespectful' development - pundit

It is “disrespectful” for Ralf Rangnick to combine his role at Man United next season with his new job with the Austria national team, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker admitted he found it “very strange” Rangnick has agreed to take charge of Austria after his disastrous spell with Man United.

It was revealed last month (29 April) that the 64-year-old will take up his consultancy role at Old Trafford as planned despite being named as the new manager of Austria.

The German was named as interim United boss at the end of November last year (2021) and Agbonlahor has suggested he will be desperate for his reign to end.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “If I was Rangnick I would pack my stuff and get to the airport and on the first flight to Vienna when the season ends.

“I don’t think he deserves to be a consult either. It’s just not worked all round.

“He’s like a supply teacher at school. You might mess around at school because the supply teacher is in and not the normal teacher.

“That’s what it seems like the players see him as – a supply teacher who will be with them for a few months and then will be gone.

“There’s no way he can do both jobs next season. I think it’s disrespectful to Man United, to be honest.

“That role with Man United should be full time. It would be very strange if he was to do both.”
