Sources: Rangers in advanced talks to agree Oscar Cortes deal – two more signings lined up

Rangers are in advanced talks to sign Lens forward Oscar Cortes and could seal one other deal by deadline day, sources have told Football Insider.

The Glasgow giants are working on a deal to sign the Colombian youngster, 20, on an initial loan until the end of the season.

The Lens star has leapt to the top of Philippe Clement’s list of priorities as he look to secure his third signing as Rangers manager, all of which have come during a busy January window for the club.

The Light Blues have already got deals for Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande over the line and, as revealed by Football Insider earlier this month, they want a second attacker capable of slotting straight into the time.

Rangers are also making progress on the signing of a new left-back, and Cortes could be joined at Ibrox by another South American import, Fluminense ace Jefte.

Clement has already revealed that he and recruitment chief Nels Koppen are prepared to work right up until the last seconds of the window to bring in new faces.

There is a growing expectation among the Ibrox hierarchy that a deal for Cortes can be finalised by Thursday’s transfer cut-off.

Cortes is a compatriot of former Gers striker Alfredo Morelos and has struggled for regular first-team minutes since moving to France last summer for a reported fee of around £4million.

He has made just four appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit so far, all of which have been as a substitute.

Those matches have yielded one goal and one assist for a player who was his country’s top scorer at last year’s South American Youth Championships.

Rangers have stepped up their search for attacking reinforcements after losing Abdallah Sima to injury for what could be three months.
