McLeish: Rangers ‘ahead of the curve’ after Jacobs deal agreed
The appointment of Zeb Jacobs is further evidence that Rangers are “ahead of the curve” with their work behind the scenes.
That is the view of ex-Gers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the new academy head coach.
Rangers announced on Wednesday (8 December) that Jacobs had joined from Royal Antwerp and will begin work in January.
The 26-year-old is described by the Scottish champions as an “innovative” coach with a “wealth of experience” and a global reputation.
He is the second high-profile arrival at Auchenhowie in recent times following David Vos’ appointment as assistant manager last week.
McLeish stressed the importance of making the right choices when it comes to behind-the-scenes recruitment.
“You have to stay ahead of the curve,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.
“If you’re a club with the expectations of Rangers, you have to be spot on with everything you do.
“You have to be ahead of the game in terms of recruitment and make sure your staff is improving all the time and abreast of the latest developments.
“Be it in terms of infrastructure or whatever, Rangers seem to be ticking all the boxes. It is great preparatory work that they are doing.“

Rangers’ youth team is currently 2nd in the Scottish Lowland League.
The senior side face Hearts today (12 December) as they look to extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
