Rangers ‘already working’ on signing Goldson replacement as ‘big-money’ Premier League deal on the cards -Kenny

Rangers could already be working on signing a replacement for Connor Goldson amid the latest on his future.

That’s according to former Leeds stopper Paddy Kenny speaking exclusively to Football Insider about whether the Gers should sell their key man in January.

A Rangers source told Football Insider on 2 December the centre-back has rejected the offer of a new contract.

His current deal expires at the end of the current campaign and hope of him signing a new contract is evaporating among Ibrox chiefs.

Director of football Ross Wilson revealed at the club’s AGM this week (30 November) Rangers are unwilling to break their pay structure for any player.

Kenny claims the Gers should cash in on Goldson while they still can.

“If he’s not going to be there, or he doesn’t want to be there, sell him,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“If he’s under contract, you can move him on and reinvest that money before he goes for nothing in the summer.

“He’s a key player but if he’s not going to sign a deal I can see them letting him go in January.

“It’s clear to see this might happen, it wouldn’t surprise me if Rangers are already working on replacements.

“Big Premier League money is hard to reject and Goldson has achieved all he wants there.

“He wants to test himself at the best level and you can’t fault him for that.”

Rangers

Goldson, has played 187 games across all competitions for Rangers.

The Englishman has played the full 90 minutes of both Scottish Premiership games under Van Bronckhorst.
