Rangers backed to accept ‘£5m’ Alfredo Morelos offer after confirmed news – expert

Frank McAvennie has suggested Alfredo Morelos could leave Rangers for £5million.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said Gers fans won’t want the 26-year-old to leave for free.

Morelos was on the bench for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side against Hearts on Saturday (1 October).

He replaced Antonio Colak for the final half an hour of the game and scored his second goal of the season.

Speaking to RangersReview (1 October), managing director Stewart Robertson said talks over a new contract for the striker are “ongoing”.

The Colombia international has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Ibrox.

McAvennie said the Light Blues need to make money if Morelos leaves.

Rangers, unfortunately, are a selling club,” he told Football Insider.

Same with Celtic. No matter how much money they have got in the bank, Scottish football is a breeding ground for England.

There is all this talk about Morelos and what he is worth, I think teams will be frightened off by some of the prices. I think the players like him but if he is not fit what does he bring to the team?

Rangers

Somebody will take him for nothing, do Rangers want to do that? Even if they got £5million for him. He has got to go in January if he is not signing a new contract. The Rangers fans will want something out of it if he leaves. I think it is bad management if he stays until the end of the season and doesn’t get the club any money.

The club needs to get money, the same as every other club in Scotland. I just don’t know if he wants to sit on the bench. At least he has got something to think about now and that can only be good for Rangers.
