Rangers backed to sign Morgan Whittaker in ‘days’ as new offer tabled – expert

Alan Hutton has suggested Rangers will reach an agreement with Swansea City star Morgan Whittaker “over the coming days”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said Whittaker would be an “exciting” signing for the fans.

On 17 January, sources told this site that the Light Blues are ready to submit a new and improved offer of £1.5million for the the 22-year-old.

The Gers’ opening offer of around £1m was knocked back by Swansea.

The forward has emerged as one of Michael Beale’s top January targets as he looks to strengthen his attacking options.

The winger’s Swansea contract runs until 2025 and has just returned to the club following a successful loan spell with Plymouth Argyle.

Hutton insisted Whittaker would be a good attacking addition to Beale’s side.

He has had an impressive loan spell at Plymouth,” he told Football Insider.

He is back in at Swansea now and it looks like there will be an agreement in place over the coming days. I think it is a bit of back and forth between the clubs.

Rangers

It has been a problem area for Rangers on that right hand side since Joe Aribo left. I think now Michael Beale is trying to put that stamp on the team.

A young player, hungry to improve and that he can improve as well. He fits that profile that he is looking for. If they can get it done it would be an exciting signing for all the Rangers fans.
