Rangers to battle English clubs for 23-year-old winger with blistering pace – report
Rangers are interested in signing Kilmarnock’s 23-year-old winger Jordan Jones but face competition from Burnley and Norwich City, according to a report.
The Sunday post reports that Jones is among four players that the Gers are looking to sign in January as they aim to recruit from within the Scottish Premiership.
The Light Blues are considering moves for Jack Hendry, who is atop of the shortlist, as well as Kenny McLean and Jamie Walker.
The report states that Jones is just behind Hendry on Rangers’ list after the winger has made 18 appearances in the league for Kilmarnock this season.
The winger has scored three goals in those 18 appearances and won his first international cap for Northern Ireland due to his form.
The Gers are keen to sign young players with top flight experience that could still improve and make for a profitable re-sale.
Football Insider Verdict
Jones is an ideal signing for Rangers, with his ability to go past people on the wing due to his tricks and pace – he could improve the side’s attacking threat. The winger has already made 66 appearances for Kilmarnock and has a heap of experience despite being only 23-years-old. The winger could have an instant impact on the club’s fortunes in January if signed. However, Kilmarnock won’t be keen to let such talent go and will probably demand a higher fee than his current market value. If the Gers can acquire him, even at a higher than expected price, he could be a gamechanger in the second-half of the season.
