Midfielder returns after senior player injury: Rangers best possible XI v St Johnstone

Rangers take on Tommy Wright’s St. Johnstone on Saturday afternoon and interim Gers boss Graeme Murty must make one change to his starting XI if he wants to field his strongest side.

After pulling up injured and being stretchered off against Hibs on Wednesday night, Kenny Miller must make way with Ryan Jack coming back into the side thanks to quirk in the Scottish disciplinary regulations.

The third match of the midfielder’s three-match ban doesn’t take effect until the 17th of December after being triggered when Jack went through the disciplinary points threshold meaning he can play against the Saints.

Wes Foderingham should retain his place in goal behind a back four of James Tavernier, Bruno Alves, Danny Wilson and Declan John.

Ross McCrorie must continue at the base of Rangers’ midfield diamond with midfielder Jack and Jason Holt in the heart of midfield.

Jamie Barjonas should move into the number 10 spot vacated by senior player Miller with Josh Windass and Alfredo Morelos continuing as the Light Blues’ strikers after their goalscoring efforts against Hibernian on Wednesday night.

Graeme Murty’s side will be desperate to pick up another three points and extend their winning run to five games with a trip to Celtic Park rapidly approaching.

The Gers are currently in second place in the Scottish Premiership and trail leaders Celtic by five points.
