Senior trio axed in three changes: Rangers best possible XI v Kilmarnock

COMMENT

Rangers caretaker Jimmy Nicholl must make three changes to the side that were thrashed 5-0 by Celtic last weekend when they face Kilmarnock on Saturday if he wants to start his strongest side.

Bruno Alves, Jordan Rossiter and Alfredo Morelos must come into the starting XI with the senior trio of Russell Martin, Jason Holt and Josh Windass axed in the Light Blues first game after appointment of Steven Gerrard as the club’s new manager.

Jak Alnwick will continue in goal with Wes Foderingham still suffering from a shoulder injury as James Tavernier, Ross McCrorie, Alves and Andy Halliday line up in defence.

Ahead of them, Graham Dorrans should be paired with Jordan Rossiter in central midfield, allowing the former Scotland international more freedom to get forward in support of the Gers attackers while allowing Rossiter to sit infront of the Gers defence.

Jamie Murphy and Daniel Candeias must continue on the flanks and try to get in behind the Killie defence and pick up a must needed three points in the race for second place.

After missing out on a starting place against Celtic, Morelos should come back into the side and partner Cummings over the final few games of the season as the Gers attempt to catch Aberdeen in second.

With trips to Pittodrie and Easter Road in the final two weeks, the Light Blues can’t afford to drop any points in their final home game of the season.

In other Rangers news, this centre-back wanted by the Gers and rivals Celtic is due to head to Glasgow with his deal expiring soon.
