Senior duo axed in two changes: Rangers best possible XI v Aberdeen

COMMENT

Rangers caretaker Jimmy Nicholl must make two changes to his side when they face Aberdeen on Tuesday night if he wants to field his strongest possible XI for the must-win clash with the Dons.

The senior duo of Jason Cummings and Jason Holt should be axed for the Pittodrie meeting with Sean Goss and Ross McCrorie taking their place in the starting XI.

Goalkeeper Jak Alwick should keep his place in goal with Wes Foderingham still suffering from a shoulder injury which has kept him on the sidelines.

Ahead of Alnwick, James Tavernier, David Bates, Russell Martin and Andy Halliday should make up the Gers’ defence as the try to pick up another win against the Dons.

After starting the weekend win against Kilmarnock on the bench, both McCrorie and Goss should come into the starting XI with McCrorie deployed as a holding midfielder and Goss and Graham Dorrans given more freedom to get forward in support of the Gers’ attack.

Widemen Jamie Murphy and Daniel Candeias will continue in their usual spots on the flanks and try to cause problems for the Dons full-backs and create chances for the Light Blues’ lone striker Alfredo Morelos.

With only one point between the two sides in the race for second, a win for the Light Blues would leave them only needing a draw against Hibs next weekend to finish ahead of the Dons.

In other Rangers news, both the Gers and Celtic are in the running to sign this £100,000-a-week Premier League midfielder who will be available in the summer.
