Rangers board thrilled by what they’ve seen from Philippe Clement – ‘hints of Klopp’
Rangers directors are ecstatic with Philippe Clement’s impact – which is “beyond their wildest dreams”
The Rangers board are thrilled with the impact made by manager Philippe Clement since his appointment and believe they have their very own Jurgen Klopp at the helm, sources have told Football Insider.
Clement succeeded Michael Beale in October 2023 following a poor start to the 2023-24 campaign for the Gers.
Rangers now sit level on points with Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table and will play Europa League knockout stage football from next month.
The Gers also won the Scottish League Cup final against Aberdeen in December.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Clement’s impact in the Ibrox hot seat has gone “beyond the wildest dreams” of club chiefs – who handed him a four-year deal.
The Belgian’s leadership, network of contacts and tactical input have particularly impressed the board at Rangers.
Additionally, sources have hailed Clement’s “connection” with the fans and his ability to clearly communicate his ideas to the media and players.
“There are hints of Jurgen Klopp there,” the source added – with the Liverpool boss widely considered one of the most charismatic in football.
Clement, who has previously won league titles with Club Brugge and KRC Genk, has lost just one of his 23 games in charge of Rangers – a 2-1 away defeat at Celtic Park in December.

Nevertheless, the Ibrox club are now level on points with their Old Firm rivals after beating Aberdeen 2-1 on Tuesday (6 February).
The next clash against Celtic is scheduled for 6 April – a game which could make or break the Gers’ title bid.
