Rangers boardroom bust-up: Keith Wyness shares ‘brutal’ Dave King verdict
Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness has suggested the current board at Rangers “would not accept” Dave King returning to the chairman role.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Aberdeen between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed King, 69, is “burning bridges” with his “very brutal” comments.
The ex-Gers chairman has said he is “available” to return to his former role and claims the club is “in crisis”.
Interim chair John Gilligan has responded by calling on major shareholder King to cease public criticism of the way the club is being run.
He said: “Please take it below the radar. Behave like a proper shareholder. Don’t do what you’re doing. It’s a shame because he’s a great character and was a massive influence at the club at the time.”
Rangers board ‘will not accept’ Dave King return, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Dave King has thrown his hat in the ring.
“There’s a lot of history that the present board would not accept.
“He was very brutal about the present board in interviews, so he’s already burning bridges before he’s even built one.

“A lot of the fanbase would probably like him back because he tried very hard when he was there.
“But I think a fresh start is right for everyone at Rangers.”
