Rangers boss wants one thing to return to Ibrox this season

Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has revealed that he is committed to bringing back “greatness” to the Glaswegian club during the upcoming 2017/18 campaign.

The 46-year-old was appointed as the new Gers manager back in March and has since made his mark at the club.

The Scottish giants finished in a disappointing third place last season and a staggering 39 points behind rivals Celtic who went on to win the domestic treble.

Caixinha has been focussed on ensuring his squad is the strongest it can possibly be to avoid a repeat of last season and has done so by recruiting nine new players.

Rangers’ squad looked promising ahead of their return to the Europa League, but Caixinha’s side ended up being knocked out in a humiliating defeat on aggregate to Luxembourg outfit Progres Niederkorn.

Since then, the Glaswegian team have been kicked into action and showed signs of the new squad gelling together after the club drew with Marseille and beat both Watford and Sheffield Wednesday last week.

The Portuguese boss is solely focussed on making the club great again.

He said: “I’m not concerned about challenging Celtic or Aberdeen, I’m concerned about returning the greatness to this club and doing that is by challenging all the teams you are facing.”

“I’m just focused on Motherwell and after that there is the League Cup match with Dunfermline and then Hibs.” Caixinha told Sky Sports ahead of their Premiership opener. “I’m not just focusing on those two teams [Aberdeen and Celtic], I’m focusing on all the teams.”

The Light Blues’ boss said that he’s fully aware of the responsibility he is taking on for the upcoming campaign.

“Since the very beginning I have no problem with the pressure,” he explained. “I’m a guy who knows the responsibility I’m taking on.

“I have huge shoulders so I have no problem with it, so I’m working hard to deliver a team the fans can be proud of.”

Rangers will travel to Fir Park on Sunday to face Motherwell in their opening game of the season, and will be hoping for three points to kickstart their campaign.
