Celtic fans go into absolute meltdown after UEFA shatter Rangers myth

Celtic fans have gone into absolute meltdown after UEFA released their latest 10-year coefficient stats and confirmed what everyone, except Celtic fans, already knew – Rangers are the same club they always were.

UEFA’s latest coefficient stats, as posted on the continental governing body’s website, show the Gers accruing points before and after the club’s absence from European football and awards them a point for their European Cup Winners’ Cup success in 1972 – 40 years before they apparently died.

After the liquidation of the club’s parent company in 2012 and formation of a new company to run the club, a swathe of Celtic supporters have since believed their club was the victim of a grand conspiracy perpetrated by the likes of the Scottish FA, Scottish media and even the UK Government.

This has led to a cottage industry surrounding the Gers led by bloggers peddling half-truths and distorting facts in the name of donations – with Hoops fans even paying to take out an English-language advert in a French-language newspaper in Switzerland to highlight their unhappiness with the football authorities in Scotland.

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

Despite everyone from the Scottish FA, UEFA, the Advertising Standards Agency and even the UK Supreme Court confirming the Gers are the same club, Celtic fans are still adamant everyone is wrong and the Gers ceased to exist six years ago.

Just before Christmas, Hoops fans were rebuffed in their attempts to crowdfund a judicial review into the Scottish FA’s handling of the whole saga.

While being the victims of this alleged conspiracy, Celtic have racked up six consecutive Scottish titles with virtually no challenge, went the entire of last season undefeated domestically and watched their biggest rivals have to climb their way up from the fourth tier of Scottish football.
