Kieran Maguire: Rangers fans ‘paying through gritted teeth’ as ‘unjustified’ cash grab revealed
Rangers supporters will be “paying through gritted teeth” to have the Champions League badge applied to their replica shirts.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Glasgow Giants’ latest scheme to capitalise on their European success.
Rangers beat PSV Eindhoven over two legs to secure Champions League group stage football for the first time in over a decade.

Giovani van Bronckhorst’s side get their Group A campaign underway at Ajax on Wednesday (7 September) before clashes against Napoli and Liverpool in the coming weeks.
As relayed by club media on 26 August, Rangers supporters will have to pay £9.95 to have the Champions League sleeve badge transferred onto their already-bought 2022-23 kits.
Maguire argues that the price is difficult to justify.
“Rangers fans will be delighted at making it to the Champions League group stages,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“But £9.95 for a badge that they will probably pay through gritted teeth. It doesn’t appear to be particularly justifiable on a cost basis.
“However, the club has made substantial progress in terms of getting this far in the competition and is therefore trying to leverage on that success.”

Rangers were thumped 4-0 by Celtic in the first Old Firm meeting of the season last Saturday (3 September).
They now trail the Hoops by five points after six matches in the Scottish Premiership campaign.
