Rangers confirmed line-up v St Johnstone: Five changes as 26-year-old mainstay axed

By Matt Bullin

Pedro Caixinha has named his Rangers side to face St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Portuguese manager has named five changes to his side as Jak Alnwick, Myles Beerman, Martyn Waghorn, Jamie Barjonas and Jason Holt come in for Wes Foderingham, Lee Hodson, Joe Dodoo, Joe Garner and Barrie McKay.

Foderingham, 26, has been a mainstay of the side, but he makes way for Alnwick to make his debut for the club.

Meanwhile James Tavernier, David Bates, Aidan Wilson, Kenny Miller, Jon Toral and Josh Windass all retain their starting spots.

Danny Wilson, Jordan Rossiter, Lee Wallace, Rob Kiernan, Philippe Senderos and Niko Krancjar remain on the sidelines.

Rangers will look to bounce back from a hugely disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of Aberdeen in their last match.

Meanwhile St Johnstone will look to end the season with three straight victories after beating Partick Thistle and Hearts 1-0 in their previous two games.

The club released the confirmed line-up on their official Twitter account an hour prior to the 12.30pm kick off.

Last time the sides met the Gers won an entertaining match 3-2, with goals from Barrie McKay, Martyn Waghorn and Emerson Hyndman.

However the previous two matches between the sides this season both ended in 1-1 draws.

Third place is already secured for Caixinha’s side, and with it a return to European football next season, but they will look for a victory over fourth-placed St. Johnstone.

In other Rangers news, this transfer target is set to undergo a medical at the club within 72 hours.
