Rangers are convinced Joe Aribo will be worth an extra £10million next year after his impressive start to life at Ibrox, Football Insider has been told.
The midfielder, 23, snubbed Southampton interest to sign for the Glasgow giants on a four-year deal this summer after leaving Charlton Athletic on a free transfer.
Rangers believed it was a major coup at the time to land Aribo ahead of Premier League and overseas clubs as well as bitter rivals Celtic.
Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Steven Gerrard has subsequently been blown away by a player he regards as an “absolute steal” and there are high hopes among the club’s coaching staff that he can be a gamechanger in the club’s title pursuit.
The coaching staff at the Light Blues are convinced Aribo’s value will skyrocket beyond the £10million mark this time next year.
The versatile midfielder has looked one of the best signings in Scotland this summer after immediately establishing himself in the starting XI.
Aribo has made seven starts among eight Rangers appearances, scoring three times, each of which have come in Europa League qualifiers.
The Nigerian was a star player in Charlton’s successful promotion campaign last season, but elected to knock back the chance to play in the Championship this campaign.
