Rangers could agree £10m-plus Glen Kamara deal after Ibrox source's reveal - pundit

Noel Whelan has suggested Rangers could sell Glen Kamara for £10million-plus during the summer transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aberdeen striker claimed the Gers’ European success may have raised the 26-year-old’s asking price.

Ibrox sources told this site on Thursday (12 May) that Rangers and Kamara have an agreement that he will be sold for a certain price this summer.

The midfielder is contracted until 2025, meaning the Gers are well protected in terms of getting maximum value in the transfer window.

Whelan suggested there will be plenty of interest in Kamara after his impressive displays at Ibrox.

He claimed the Light Blues could get an eight-figure fee for his sale.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think for player of his ability and importance to Rangers in that midfield area, you’ve got to be looking at £8-10million.

“But look, it’s one of those where they’ll be in the Champions League next season, whether in the prelims or directly by winning the Europa League.

“It might cost a little bit more to get him out of the football club, possibly. There will be a lot of people interested, when I look at him as a player.

Kamara joined Rangers from Dundee for £50,000 in January 2019.

He has become a first-choice mainstay for the Light Blues under both Steven Gerrard and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Football Insider revealed last summer that Arsenal made a move to re-sign the midfielder amid other Premier League interest.

He signed his most recent contract back in September 2021.
