‘Rangers could appoint high-quality Arsenal chief’
Rangers are continuing to make changes behind the scenes as they prepare for the anticipated 49ers Enterprises-backed takeover.
The US consortium, which includes Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe and health insurance tycoon Andrew Cavenagh, is looking to secure a majority takeover and wants control of the Ibrox boardroom by buying at least 51 per cent of the club’s shares.
Patrick Stewart is spearheading the club’s operations after he was appointed as chief executive in December.
Barry Ferguson is currently overseeing matters on the pitch after he took on the managerial role on an interim basis following Philippe Clement’s sacking in February.
TBR Football reported on 31 March the Scottish giants hold an interest in Arsenal chief Jason Ayto as they look to improve their executive team at Ibrox, with Everton and Crystal Palace also monitoring his situation.
Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider appointing high-quality people such as Ayto could have a “big” impact at Ibrox.
The 40-year-old, who first arrived at the Emirates as a scout in 2014, has been operating as Arsenal’s interim sporting director since Edu’s exit last year.
However, Arsenal have now appointed Andrea Berta as Edu’s successor after he impressed during his time at Atletico Madrid, potentially opening up Ayto for a move elsewhere.

Rangers could get ‘massive’ boost after stunning twist
Borson insisted Rangers could make a “massive” difference to their finances and make themselves more appealing to potential additions if they can win the Europa League this season.
He told Football Insider: “I think you’re seeing a general increase in the quality of management at Rangers.
“If you start to bring in very credible people from a number of clubs, that’s going to make a big impact.
“We know about the limitations that Rangers have.
“I know it’s probably unlikely, but if they could somehow win the Europa League, these sorts of numbers that flow from winning the Europa League plus Champions League qualification make a big difference in the Scottish league.
“It makes a massive difference.
“Then if you add that with high-quality brains around the table in the boardroom, you can start to compete more regularly, not just in Scotland but also in European competitions and you can capture more of that European revenue.
“That’s where the big opportunities lie.”

Rangers update emerges on Marco Rose appointment
Football Insider revealed on 1 April Rangers will struggle to appoint Marco Rose as their new manager this summer.
The Gers are planning to be in the market for top managers if they become available given the size and stature of the club, with Rose recently being sacked by RB Leipzig.
Rangers currently sit 13 points behind Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, but they are into the quarter-finals of the Europa League, with the first leg against Athletic Bilbao taking place on Thursday (10 April).
