Rangers could be about to pull off ‘massive signing’ after source’s reveal – Hutton
Mason Holgate would “certainly” improve the Rangers defence if he were to switch from Everton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers and Scotland defender Alan Hutton believed the out-of-favour centre-back would relish the chance to play in front of the Ibrox crowds.
As revealed by Football Insider (12 December), Philippe Clement’s side are in a three-way race with English outfits Watford and Middlesbrough to loan Holgate with the Toffees keen to terminate his spell at Southampton.

The 27-year-old has had a disastrous loan at St Mary’s Stadium having made just five Championship appearances and being an unused substitute 13 times.
Everton are keen for Holgate to get more minutes away from Goodison Park and Hutton is confident that Glasgow would be an ideal place to do so.
“He’d absolutely be a good fit at Rangers,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s a guy who can play well, he’s versatile and he can come in as a centre-back.
“But he can play in different positions which is great. He’s gone out to Southampton on loan to obviously get some more game time.
“It’s not quite happened for him and he’s not getting the minutes that he’d like but it would be a great opportunity to go to a massive football club.

“Playing in front of those fans would be something he’d be keen on and I think Sean Dyche would want him to be playing minutes as well.
“If Rangers can get that over the line, it would be massive as he certainly makes that backline better.”
