Rangers ‘could be in trouble’ as Ross McCrorie deal edges close – pundit
Frank McAvennie has suggested any sell-on fee for Ross McCrorie won’t save Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said he has “heard” that the Gers could be “in trouble again”.
Earlier this month (14 April), sources told this site that Bristol City are among a number of clubs plotting to sign McCrorie from Aberdeen.
As relayed by The Herald (24 April), the Gers will be set to earn a six-figure bonus if the 25-year-old clinches a potential £2m move to Bristol City this summer.
If the midfielder makes the move to the Championship side, the Gers will receive around £200,000 for the former Auchenhowie graduate.
McCrorie’s current contract at Pittodrie runs until 2026 after joining the Dons from Ibrox in 2021 after a successful loan spell with the fellow Premiership side..
The midfielder was the captain of his new club last weekend (23 April) as they beat his former side 2-0, cementing their third place position ahead of the league split.
When asked if the Gers will be grateful for any funds coming into the club, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I really do not know what is happening with Rangers.
“I heard that they could be in trouble again.

“Somebody has got to come in there that knows how to work figures and can tell them that they can’t spend money because they need to get on a level footing.
“A couple hundred grand I do not think is going to make too much difference to Rangers.“
