Rangers expected XI v Motherwell: Defender axed after horror show, senior duo return
Rangers are expected to make two changes to their side to face Motherwell at Ibrox on Wednesday.
Graeme Murty is likely to welcome Ryan Jack back to his side after the midfielder served the final of his three-match suspension in the 2-1 defeat to Kilmarnock on Saturday while Bruno Alves could be back in action after missing the Rugby Park loss through injury.
To make way for Alves, defender David Bates is expected to be axed after a horror show at Killie as the Light Blues squandered a one-goal lead to slump to a second defeat on the bounce.
Lee Hodson could make way for Jack to return as Murty returns to the 4-1-2-1-2 formation that has worked well for him in recent fixtures.
Wes Foderingham is expected to keep his spot in the starting line-up behind a back four of James Tavernier, Alves, Danny Wilson and Declan John, who is likely to revert back to left-back after playing in a more advanced role against Kilmarnock.
Ross McCrorie could start in the holding midfield role with Jack and Jason Holt ahead of him.
Daniel Candeias is likely to play in a free role behind the two strikers of Josh Windass and Alfredo Morelos, who now appear to be Murty’s go-to options to spearhead his formation.
Rangers fans will no doubt hope that the senior duo of Jack and Alves will help the Glasgow side jump back to winning ways against a Motherwell team that dumped them out of the Scottish League Cup in the semi-finals at Hampden Park earlier this season.
In other Rangers news, the Gers are in the running to sign this proven goalscorer who has notched up career transfer fees worth over £50million.
