Rangers expert digs at five Ibrox stars after confirmed news
Rangers and Celtic don’t deserve all the credit in the Scottish Premiership.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Rangers defender Alan Hutton expressed sympathy for players who have been omitted from the 2022-2023 team of the season.
WhoScored created a team of the campaign, which features the best performing XI in each position throughout the league and included James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Borna Barisic, Fashion Sakala and Malik Tillman from the Gers.
Celtic and Rangers have dominated the field with ten players coming from either one of the teams.
The Hoops were crowned champions for the 53rd time in their history topping Rangers by seven points.
The league triumph means that the Celts have now won back-to-back titles.
The Gers finished the campaign without any silverware and despite an underwhelming domestic season, Michael Beale’s side still had four players included in WhoScored’s team of the season.
Hutton believes that players from other teams deserve more credit for the campaign they have had.
“It’s always going to be heavily Celtic and Rangers, as they have a lot of possession and score a lot of goals,” he told Football Insider.

“[Kevin] Van Veen at Motherwell, and these type of players have had really good and consistent seasons.
“Rangers are also heavily featured without winning a trophy this season, but there are also a heavy number of Celtic players in there as well.”
The team of the season in full: Kelle Roos, James Tavernier, Carl Starfelt, Connor Goldson, Borna Barisic, Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate, Malik Tillman, Fashion Sakala, Jota and Kyogo Furuhashi.
