Rangers expert drops ‘massive’ Celtic claim after eighth deal agreed

Michael Beale’s Rangers side have a “massive” challenge to dethrone Celtic next season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton has been impressed with Beale’s transfer business so far but said the real test will be trying to win back trophies from the Hoops.

The Light Blues have already confirmed five signings this summer with Kieran Dowell, Jack Butland and Dujon Sterling all joining on free transfers.

Sam Lammers joined from Atalanta and Abdallah Sima made a loan switch from Brighton.

On 6 July, the Gers confirmed the arrival of Cyriel Dessers on a four-year deal from Cremonese.

The attacker becomes the sixth signing of the summer and the eighth since Beale’s arrival at Ibrox in November.

Football Insider revealed (5 July) that there could be four more arrivals into Ibrox before the transfer window closes.

Hutton has been impressed with how quickly the Gers boss is managing to get his business done this year.

Fair play to him,” he told Football Insider.

He has spoken about this in the past, that he wants everybody in as soon as possible.

He knows he has got a massive challenge on his hands next season. Celtic won the treble and he has to try and wrestle some of those trophies back.

To do that he needed to get players out, which he has done, and the players that he wants in to really work with them and get his ideas across.
